My performance experience spans from choral and solo chamber music to opera, oratorio, musical theatre and cabaret.
I’m a classically trained soprano, an alumna of Wright State University with a degree in music education.
As an active soloist and chamber musician, I’ve sung with the Bach Society of Dayton, the Dayton Opera Chorus, the Kettering Civic Band, the Miami Valley Symphony Orchestra and the Springfield Symphony Orchestra.
Musical favorites include Magnificat (C.P.E. Bach), Messiah (Handel), Missa in Angustiis (Haydn), Elijah (Mendelssohn), and Stabat Mater (Pergolesi).
As a teacher I recognize that learning is a lifelong endeavour. I continue to take lessons for my own enjoyment and development. The voice, which is an organic instrument, is ever-changing so there’s always something to work on.
I’m also a member of two professional organizations through which I receive continuing education so that I am a better teacher for my students.
The National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) is geared specifically to vocal training and pedagogy.
The National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) provides both professional support of music teachers (all instruments) and recital/festival opportunities for teachers and students. I am on the board of the local chapter, the Dayton Music Club.
I maintain a private voice studio where I help students of all ages find their voices and gain confidence in using their unique instruments.
Whether your goal is to perform for others or just for yourself—in the car or in shower—voice lessons are a valuable investment.
My preference is weekly lessons—it provides consistent reinforcement of concepts and makes for steadier progress.
I also provide ‘audition prep’ services (the fees are the same) for short-term help for community theatre or school production auditions. Our goals will be different than for long-term lessons.
